The relationship between Greece and India, via the agrifood sector, has been upgraded through the memorandum of cooperation submitted to Parliament for ratification, Minister of Rural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis said in his speech to Parliament on Tuesday, during the ratification of the memorandum.
According to Avgenakis, this memorandum of cooperation allows the development of relations in the field of agriculture and the further strengthening of bilateral relations between Greece and India.
It also paves the way for the creation of a Safety and Origin Center for Indian Products in a Greek port, where their safety and hygiene will be certified.
"Greece is becoming a trade hub between the Middle East and Europe for Indian agricultural exports, a gateway for India to Europe," the Minister of Rural Development and Food said.
He also underlined that with this cooperation the way is opened for "further penetration into a huge market, that of the most populous country in the world with the fifth strongest economy."
