PM Brnabić: The friendship between Serbia and Cyprus is strong

The head of the Serbian government, Ana Brnabić, in a conversation she had yesterday with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, assessed that the two countries share a strong friendship, historically confirmed closeness and solidarity of the two peoples, based on full understanding and long-term mutual support, writes a Serbian publication.

The prime minister pointed out that the organisation of the third joint session of the two governments testified to the commitment to improve cooperation and expressed her belief that the signed memoranda will contribute to stronger cooperation, primarily in the fields of education, science, technological development and technology development and the development of innovation, the government announcement said.

As Brnabić assessed, the biggest possibility for the improvement of economic cooperation is the increase of direct Cypriot investments in the economy of Serbia, and she called on Cypriot companies to invest more in the Serbian market.

Memoranda of Understanding in the fields of Science, Education and between the Diplomatic Academies of Cyprus and Serbia were signed on Thursday between the two countries in the context of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis

He expressed the expectation that, in addition to increasing trade exchanges, cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture and tourism, in which the two countries have significant potential, will also be considered.

President Christodoulidis said that Cyprus is committed to speeding up the integration process of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union and gave firm support to Serbia on its European path, bearing in mind that only such a policy ensures stability in the region and Europe.

Saying that the two countries have an equal stance in respect of international law, the Prime Minister thanked Cyprus for its continued support for Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the statement said.
