Erdoğan touches down in Athens half an hour early (VIDEO)

Earlier than originally scheduled, the plane carrying the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Athens for the Supreme Cooperation Council and the contacts he will have with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, landed at the "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport.

When the door of the Turkish presidential plane opened, the ministers of the Erdogan government who will participate in the bilateral contacts and the Supreme Cooperation Council came out, while at 10:29 the Turkish president disembarked.

Mr. Erdogan was welcomed in Greece, as announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, who had a short dialogue with the Turkish president.

At the "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport, everything was ready early on for the arrival of the three planes carrying the Turkish president and his entourage with draconian security measures as provided for such cases.

Immediately after his arrival in Greece, Erdogan will head to the Presidential Palace, where he will meet Katerina Sakellaropoulou, while the ministers who accompany him will be divided between the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the LAED for their meetings with their Greek counterparts.

According to the original schedule - as it is not known whether this will be affected by Erdogan's earlier arrival in Athens - at 12:15 the Turkish president with his entourage will pass the door of the Maximos Palace for his private meeting with Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Greek delegation.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., according to the schedule, the joint statements of the leaders of Greece and Turkey will take place without questions.

After 1:30 p.m., the lunch at the Maximos Palace is planned, which will also be the plenary session of the Supreme Cooperation Council, while by 5:00 p.m. Mr. Erdogan is expected to have left.
