Dendias is in Africa to attend the 2023 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting in Accra, where ministers will express their collective commitment to UN peacekeeping.
The Greek minister thanked Captain Panagiotis Tsakos and Evangelos Mytilineos and their respective foundations, as well as all volunteers for helping to create a Greek welcoming corner for children living in a tough area, and said the Greek state will continue to contribute to and support this effort.
"I have promised we will provide the remaining funds to complete the 'Giannis Antetokounmpo' basketball court so that the children may play basketball, and we will then build a football field also. There are two very good players here who will help to teach football to the children and create two very good teams, one in basket and one in football," he added, referring to former football players from Ghana, Peter Ofori-Quaye and Kofi Amponsah.
On the sidelines of the UN meeting in Accra, Dendias was scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Defence Minister of Ghana, Dominic Nitiwul and with Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe as well as with the UN Undersecretary-general for Peace Operations Jean Pierre Lacroix.
