President Erdoğan Strongly Condemns UN Security Council’s Favoritism Toward Israel and Slams the US for Failing to Uphold Universal Declaration of Human Rights

During a speech at a World Human Rights Day event, President Erdoğan criticized the UN Security Council, stating that since October 7, it had transformed into a council solely dedicated to protecting and looking after Israel. He expressed his disappointment, saying, “From now on, humanity will not say of America, ‘It is the country that supports the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.’ In the first place, we cannot say it.” President Erdoğan firmly believed that a fair world was possible, but not with America, as he accused it of consistently siding with Israel.

Moreover, President Erdoğan expressed his dissatisfaction with the UN Security Council’s rejection of a ceasefire proposal, with only the United States voting against it, on the grounds that such justice cannot be achieved on one’s own. He called for accountability and insisted that the “Butchers of Gaza” must face trial in international courts for their crimes against humanity, expressing hope that justice would prevail in due course.

President Erdoğan also took the opportunity to highlight the pressing issues of Islamophobia and xenophobia, which he described as encircling Western societies like poison ivy and posing significant threats to human rights.

In summary, President Erdoğan voiced his strong criticisms against the UN Security Council’s bias towards Israel, the US’s failure to uphold human rights, and the rejected ceasefire proposal. He urged for accountability for those responsible for crimes in Gaza and emphasized the urgent need to address Islamophobia and xenophobia as fundamental human rights concerns.
