Anna Ntountounaki Makes History with Second European Gold Medal

Greek swimmer Anna Ntountounaki has achieved a historic feat by becoming the champion of the 25-meter-pool Europeans. The 28-year-old secured a gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly event in Otopeni, Romania, with an impressive time of 25.10 seconds. Just a day earlier, she had won a bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly at the same competition.

Ntountounakis victory was particularly noteworthy as she finished in a tie with Dutch swimmer Tessa Jill. As a result, both athletes will be awarded gold medals and will stand atop the podium. Meanwhile, Sweden's Sarah Juvenik claimed the bronze medal with a time of 25.16 seconds.

This marks Ntountounaki's second European gold medal, following her triumph in Budapest in 2020, where she emerged as the European champion in the 50-meter pool 100-meter butterfly event.
