Volcano erupts near Reykjavik: Iceland Meteorological Institute (See Video)

A volcanic eruption started on Monday night on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, turning the sky orange and prompting the civil defense teams to be put on high alert. The eruption appeared to have occurred about 1.8 miles from the town of Grindavík.

This comes after the area recorded thousands of earthquakes over the past weeks.
