Volos: Motorist ran 12 red lights and crashed into a police car to avoid the breathalyser

A 21-year-old man in Volos showed unbelievable audacity on Saturday night by not only driving his car while his license plates had been removed for another violation but did not hesitate to violate 12 red lights and crash into a police car to avoid the breathalyser.

According to Gegonota, it all started when the 21-year-old did a "doughnut" on a central avenue of Volos, returning from a tsipouro shop. Police officers who saw the dangerous movements of the vehicle signalled the driver to stop.

The 21-year-old did not stop and instead stepped on the accelerator.

A chase followed in almost half of Volos with the 21-year-old when he got stuck in an alley of a remote district, crashing into the patrol car that had blocked his way.

After escaping from the roadblock, the young driver ran home, where he was arrested. He was then taken to a police station, where he was held until yesterday as the breathalyser with a limit of 0.25 showed in 1.25 ml per litre of blood.

At Autoforo Trimeles, where the 21-year-old was driven, he was convicted of dangerous driving, resistance, attempted dangerous bodily harm in a row and was sentenced to 36 months of suspended prison and a 12,000 euro fine because he ran 12 red lights while his driving license was revoked for six months.
