On Vasilis Karras' Facebook page, a heartfelt message was posted about the legendary singer who passed away on Christmas Eve 2024

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to the greatest Greek folk singer of our time. Today, on the afternoon of December 24, 2024, our beloved Vasilis Carras left us forever. He joins the ranks of other esteemed artists, including Stratos, Stelio, Rita, Nikos Papazoglou, Dimitris Mitropano… and even Pantelis! The loss of Vasilis is immense and irreplaceable, but we must find ways to overcome our shock and support his family.

Vasilis Karras was more than just a talented singer - he was a remarkable man who touched many lives both within and outside his work. Generous and giving, he extended his kindness to his colleagues and to the world at large. Vasilis never sought personal acclaim nor considered himself superior to his peers, whether they were old acquaintances or new talents. He was one of those rare artists who not only embraced the world around him but actively sought connection. This is why the birth of one of Greece's largest fan clubs can be attributed to his encouragement and support. His door and warm embrace were always open!

We spent countless hours in dressing rooms, and when Vasilis spotted us, he would greet us with a welcoming smile, saying, "Welcome, my children!" His embrace was equally genuine for both veteran and novice colleagues, and it is no coincidence that he forged strong friendships within the industry. Over the past year and a half, he valiantly fought his battle against cancer. Aware of his situation from the very beginning, he faced it with immense courage. While Vasilis Karras may be physically gone, his spirit remains here. He will always be with us - through his timeless songs and the memories we created together. The journeys we embarked upon with him were truly unforgettable, and we will continue to honor him with pride and gratitude. It was our privilege to have known and represented him.

We make a solemn promise to carry on the legacy he has left behind, showcasing his artistry and ensuring that future generations will come to know him through our experiences. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. His body will be laid to rest on Tuesday, December 26th, at the Holy Church of Agia Sophia in Thessaloniki, from 09:00 to 13:00 pm, for those wishing to pay their respects. The burial will take place in his birthplace, Kokkinohori Kavala, on Wednesday, December 27th, at 12 pm. As per the family's wishes, instead of wreaths, donations can be made to support the children's club, Floga.

Rest in peace, dear Master… until we meet again.
