Upon learning of Vasilis Karras' passing, Konstantinos Argyros, who was performing at a Thessaloniki nightclub, paused the lively music program to bid a heartfelt farewell to the legendary folk singer.
"Apart from being a great artist, he was a great man. Be well where you are. This man will be missed throughout Greece. He was an influence for me but also for the whole of Greece", said Konstantinos Argyros and then performed the song "Kai go, goo"
Amid tears, mourners bid farewell to the esteemed singer, clutching white flowers as a final tribute.
Eulogies were delivered by dignitaries including the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Filotheos, Stavros Kalafatis, the General Secretary of New Democracy's NGO, Vangelis Arabatzis, the artistic director of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra, and his doctor, Kostas Botsolis.
In his funeral, the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, Philotheos, said: "He was a faithful man, in a conscious way. He had made the heart of Bethlehem the birthplace of Christ. He was distinguished for his love for his people and family and had charity work in an inconspicuous way. He was a folk singer and signed with his voice what he wanted all the people to express.
