Vasilis Karras: Ploutarchos, Vandi, Oikonomopoulos and Remos at the funeral of the great singer

In his hometown of Kokkinohori Kavala, the epilogue was written today for the great folk performer Vasilis Karras, who passed away at the age of 70 on Christmas Eve. Acquaintances, relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers were at the Holy Church of Agios Nestoros on Wednesday to honour the great singer.

Paola, Antonis Remos, Nikos Oikonomopoulos, Nikos Vertis, Giannis Ploutarchos, Despina Vandi, and other leading names of Greek music were there to honour the great singer.

Despina Vandi could not hold back her tears. The singer released the first album of her career entitled "Gela mou" in 1994, with the contribution of Vasilis Karras.

In her first statements after his death, she said: "He lives in my heart, and I am grateful to him for what he taught me consciously and unconsciously." She was dressed in black and wearing black glasses and did not stop crying as she left the church.

Paola, who collaborated for years with Vassilis Karras, arrived excitedly at the artist's place of origin, accompanied by her ex-husband and father of her child, Fotis Zoglopitis and her current partner, Lazaros Vafiadis.

Antonis Remos, a close friend of the dear singer, was also in Kokkinochori.

Nikos Oikonomopoulos also arrived in Kavala; he was particularly moved and could hardly speak. "Condolences to his family and loved ones. We will never forget Vasilis; we will sing him, and we will be the people who will transfer his songs to the next generations."

After a while, Nikos Vertis, who could barely articulate words, arrived at the church of Kokkinohori Kavala to say his last goodbye to Vassilis Karras.

He said, "I don't have it very well because I'm very emotional. As you know, I am from here too. Vasilis and I were family. His family is my family, too. The people who came to Vasili's last farewell say it all. They all needed to say goodbye to him. He was loved as an artist and adored as a man. Have a nice trip. We will always love and honour him."

Also, Giannis Ploutarchos was there for Vasilis Karras.
