Syrian Kurdish Commander Appeals to US to Halt F-16 Sales to Turkey amid Airstrikes

In an interview with Al-Monitor, Mazlum Kobane, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), has urged the United States to bolster Kurdish trust in Washington and prevent the sale of F-16s to Turkey.

Kobane's plea comes as Turkey launches airstrikes on the Kurdish-led autonomous region in northeast Syria, causing casualties and damaging civilian infrastructure. The Turkish government claims that these actions are in response to attacks by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which they accuse the SDF of supporting. However, Kobane denies any links between his forces and the PKK and asserts that there is no evidence of PKK attacks originating from the region under his control.
