Greece welcomed 2024! Festive events for the most magical night of the year were planned in the centres of large and smaller cities of the country, with the events in Athens and Thessaloniki taking centre stage.

Numerous spectacular fireworks lit up the Athenian sky above the Acropolis, the Parliament and the Constitution, creating a truly spectacular sight.

In a particularly festive rhythm, through a spectacular ceremony with music and merriment, Athens welcomed 2024, sending yet another year a message of hope and optimism. With two celebratory concerts, but also with duets, artists welcomed the new year energetically with their songs.

The new mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, addressed the Athenians during the countdown, saying that it was time to remember solidarity to make Athens a green city.


Starring Nikos Portokaloglou and Marina Satti and hosts Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos. The songwriter Nikos Portokaloglou presented a musical performance based on his favourite songs but also on bold combinations of Greek and foreign iconic songs.

He is joined on stage by Vicky Karatzoglou, Byron Tsourapis and his band "Noble Tramps". Marina Satti made her mark with her pop, mainstream and ethnic rhythms. Presenting a musical show with the stamp of her unique aesthetic, she travelled the audience with her incredible band into her musical universe.

At the same time, from 23:00 this New Year's Eve, Varvakeios Agora turns into the ultimate New Year's dance floor! The Municipality of Athens and Street Outdoors invite us to the city's biggest and most special NYE party, where renowned DJs and producers take over the decks and distribute upbeat music for dancing until the morning.

In Thessaloniki, which has been moving at a special pace since Sunday morning, the sky is expected to be filled with lanterns at the initiative of the Trade Association.

"On Sunday, December 31, from 6:00 p.m. until the change of time, we are waiting for you in Aristotelous Square, at the Statue of Venizelos, to fill the sky of the city with lanterns, the most atmospheric night of the year which is the night of wishes", says the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce in a statement.

Music shows, Christmas happenings, and other activities in a festive atmosphere take place in the afternoon.

A crowd gathered in Aristotelous Square and left lanterns on the most atmospheric night of the year, the night of wishes.


This is the Fanarakia Christmas Event, which takes place for the second consecutive year in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce.





Music shows, Christmas events, and unique confectionery workshops for children take place during the event, with free participation.
