The Athens Independent Film Festival KINO ATHENS announces an important international collaboration for Greek cinema.
For the first time, Athens and Santiago join forces under the title A Tale of Two Cities to present a joint program, which includes screenings of films from Greece to Chile and from Chile to Greece.
It is about two cities in dialogue, discussing and exchanging cinematographic works with simultaneous screenings. The program is a collaborative action of the Athens Independent Film Festival KINO ATHENS and Centro De Cine Y Creación (CCC) from Santiago and starts with two parallel screenings in Chile and Greece on January 24, 2024.
The opening action in Santiago includes the screening of the Greek film Attenberg, directed by Athena Tsaggaris, while in Athens, the film De jueves a domingo (Thursday till Sunday), directed by Dominga Sotomayor Castillo, will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 21:00, at Booze Cooperativa, a production from Chile and the Netherlands.
The detailed screening program will be announced soon.
This year's KINO ATHENS will take place from March 1 to 10, 2024, at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, Technopoli, Serafion of the Municipality of Athens, while the French Institute of Greece is added to the event venues.
The event is implemented with the support of the Municipality of Athens, the Athens Film Office and the Hellenic Film Center.
The 2nd KINO ATHENS will include films of all kinds, from all over the world, from independent cinema, with short and feature-length competition sections, workshops, masterclasses, DJ sets and other activities, while this year, KINO Junior is launching with screenings for schools and families and children's competition section.
