"We defend our country's interests both diplomatically and militarily," the Turkish president said

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan does not forget the "Blue Homeland", Ankara's efforts to illegally claim Greece's territorial waters as its own.

The Turkish president spoke on Wednesday at an event of his country's National Intelligence Service (MİT) and declared Turkey's readiness "to protect the Blue Homeland from the Aegean to the Mediterranean and the Eastern Mediterranean".

Blue Homeland
Turkey's envisioned Blue Homeland that aims to steal Greek maritime space.

"We don't behave like we used to, thinking about what other people say. We define our policies around Turkey. We try to do this no matter what anyone says. We defend our country's interests both diplomatically and militarily. Our activities are an example of this," Erdoğan initially said.

"The liberation of Karabakh with our brothers from Azerbaijan is one of them," the Turkish president commented in reference to the Caucasian's country invasion of Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 and the ethnic cleansing of the region's indigenous Armenian population in 2023.

"Our will to protect the Blue Homeland from the Aegean to the Mediterranean and the Eastern Mediterranean is one of them. Our country's achievements were not accidental. Our army and foreign affairs, especially MİT, have a lot of hard work and effort," he added, during his speech.
