A suspicious envelope sent to the Russian Embassy in Athens was on Friday collected in an operation by the fire brigade in accordance with the relevant protocols and then delivered to the National Organisation for Public Health (EODY) for further inspection.
According to sources, the envelope was found at the embassy on Nikiforou Lytra Street in Paleo Psychiko shortly after 10:00 on Friday by an employee who did not open it because it appeared suspicious.
The operation involved 15 firefighters with the 1st EMAK special team and five vehicles, while a team from the Hellenic Police Explosive Devices Disposal Department was also sent.
