Greece denies reports about joint Greek-Turkish patrols in the Aegean

The reports do not correspond to reality, the Ministry of Shipping emphasised

The reports about joint Greek-Turkish patrols in the Aegean do not correspond to reality, the Ministry of Shipping said in an announcement on Saturday.

The announcement of the Ministry of Shipping:

It should be pointed out that print and electronic media reports about alleged joint Greek-Turkish patrols in the Aegean have nothing to do with reality.

It should also be added that during the meetings of the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Christos Stylianidis in Ankara with the Turkish Minister of the Interior Ali Yerlikaya and their delegations, it was agreed to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, and it was decided how Greece and Turkey will cooperate in the joint fight against illegal immigration and migrant smuggling.

During the meetings of the two Ministers and their delegations, the ways to strengthen the cooperation and mainly the communication of the Coast Guard-Hellenic Coast Guard and the Turkish Coast Guard on the field were evaluated to be more effective in dealing with the problem.
