Metropolis of Boston Camp organizes winter programs focusing on Greek heritage

Two sessions of the winter program of the Metropolis of Boston recently took place, attracting many young people from numerous communities to the Camp Center of the Metropolis in Contoocook, NH.

Campers participated in gatherings focusing on Orthodox Faith and Greek Heritage and also engaged in outings and excursions to the Pats Peak ski resort for skiing. They also explored the area around Contoocook with the so-called ‘Tour de Toyky’, which included visits to Candle Design, Rogers Maple Syrup, and Houston’s Pine Lane Farm.

Given the large demand for enrollment at its fall camp program, MBC opened two winter camp sessions to allow more campers to experience the faith and Foster an appreciation for the Greek-American community. This marks the first-ever expansion of winter camp offerings in MBC’s history.

“This fall, about 100 campers were left on the waitlist because too many signed up to accommodate. We asked our staff to answer the call to serve and offer two GOYA winter camps for the first time in MBC history… they answered!” said Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and MBC Camp Director Panos Coufos.

It should be noted that the Camp Center of the Metropolis of Boston is located in the town of Contoocook in the state of New Hampshire, about a two-hour drive from Boston and approximately half an hour from Concord, the capital of New Hampshire. It is an idyllic location with a large lake, a chapel dedicated in honour of  Saint George, the Hospitality House, a dining hall, and more than thirty cabins for campers, resembling the scenery of a small village.

The Hospitality House comprises thirty-five double rooms, each with a private bathroom, conference spaces, a dining hall, recreational areas, and entertainment facilities.
