Historic Day for U.S.-Greece Energy Partnership as First LNG Shipment Arrives in Alexandroupoli

ALEXANDROUPOLIS, Greece (February 18, 2024) – A historic moment unfolded today as the Department of Commerce (DOC) facilitated the arrival of the first-ever shipment of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Greece.

The landmark delivery arrived at Gastrade's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Alexandroupoli, marking a significant step forward in strengthening energy security for Greece and the wider Central and Eastern European region.
