Royal Families Gather in Windsor to Remember King Constantine II

The British Royal Family joined their Greek counterparts and royals from across Europe at a Thanksgiving Service in Windsor Castle, commemorating the late King Constantine II of Greece.

A Service Filled with Royalty:

The service, held at the Nave of St George's Chapel, was led by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth. Among the attendees were a multitude of prominent figures, including Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, her children and their spouses, King Constantine's sisters Princess Irene and Queen Sofia of Spain, and representatives from numerous European royal families.

British Royals Lead the Charge:

Queen Camilla led the British Royal Family's presence, joined by members like the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Royal Anne. Notably, Prince William, a godson of King Constantine, was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. His reading from Revelation 21:1-7 was delivered instead by Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece.

Remembering the King:

Following the service, Queen Camilla hosted a reception in place of King Charles, who is currently undergoing treatment. Lord Nicholas Soames, a close friend of the late King, delivered the eulogy, offering a personal tribute to King Constantine's life and legacy.

A Family's Loss:

King Constantine II passed away on January 10, 2023, after a lengthy battle with health issues. He was laid to rest at the Royal Cemetery at Tatoi Palace following a funeral service held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens on January 16. King Charles III, second cousin to King Constantine through his father Prince Philip, was unable to attend the funeral due to a scheduled engagement.

This service served as a poignant reminder of the late King's life, bringing together his family and representatives from across Europe to celebrate his memory.
