Emmanuel Karalis Vaults to Bronze at World Indoor Championships

Emmanuel Karalis secured Greece's third medal at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, adding to the nation's medal count following Miltos Tedoglou's gold medal victory.

In the pole vault final, the Greek champion cleared 5.85 meters on his first attempt, bettering his own personal best for the year (5.72 meters) and guaranteeing himself a place on the podium. He entered the competition at 5.50 meters and, after an initial failed attempt, passed on jumping 5.65 meters. He then successfully cleared both 5.65 meters on his second attempt and 5.75 meters on his first attempt.

His stellar jump of 5.85 meters secured him a bronze medal finish in the World Championships for the first time in his career. He attempted to clear 5.90 meters on his first try but was unsuccessful. He then opted to skip 5.90 meters and directly attempt 5.95 meters. Unfortunately, he failed to clear 5.95 meters on his two attempts, ending his competition.

Armand Duplantis successfully defended his title in the final, clearing 5.95 meters in his final attempt. This moved him from third to first place, knocking Sam Kendricks down to second with a height of 5.90 meters. Karalis claimed the bronze medal due to having a lower jump height compared to Duplantis and Kendricks.
