Denis Shapovalov knocks out world No 11 Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-4

Denis Shapovalov had been experiencing a series of disappointing defeats recently, but he finally achieved a notable victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2024 Miami Open. Tsitsipas had confidently proclaimed that he would regain his Top 10 ranking within three weeks, but his recent performances did not support this claim. Throughout the match against Shapovalov, Tsitsipas failed to meet the high expectations set by his fans. Though his serving was relatively effective, it was overshadowed by Shapovalov's exceptional performance. The Canadian player delivered a solid and consistent match, showcasing some of his best skills in recent months.

Shapovalov was particularly impressive at the baseline, executing incredible angled shots with confidence. He took an aggressive approach, consistently attacking Tsitsipas' weaknesses. While Shapovalov did experience some missed opportunities, including failed break points, he also hit some phenomenal shots that he hadn't executed in years. Additionally, his block returns put Tsitsipas in uncomfortable positions, making it difficult for the Greek player to regain momentum.

Overall, Shapovalov outperformed Tsitsipas in the match, as evidenced by the statistics. Tsitsipas faced a significantly higher number of break points on his serve compared to the points he won on return. This ultimately led to his defeat, with Shapovalov emerging as the victor with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
