A Sea of Youthful Patriotism:
A total of 1,500 students from 230 primary and secondary schools proudly marched past government and local dignitaries, showcasing their vibrant energy and national spirit. Leading the procession were high school students from Kalavryta, their traditional costumes echoing the spirit of the Greek Revolution as they carried a symbolic banner.
A Celebration of Unity:
The event wasn't just a display of youthful enthusiasm; it also embodied unity. The City of Athens Philharmonic Orchestra and music bands from the Greek Police, Air Force, and Fire Brigade filled the air with a rousing symphony, amplifying the patriotic spirit.
Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future:
Before the parade, Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Athens Mayor Haris Doukas laid wreaths at the Unknown Soldier Monument, paying respect to those who fell for Greece's freedom. Following the parade, Minister Pierrakakis highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing that it teaches "how our country and our people can achieve miracles through faith, boldness, and fortitude." He also drew a connection between the religious aspect of the celebration and the importance of a strong relationship between the state and the Church.
