Sakkari Advances to Miami Quarter-Finals as Kalinskaya Withdraws

Maria Sakkari has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the Miami tournament without even stepping onto the court, as her scheduled opponent, Ana Kalinskaya, withdrew just moments before their match was set to begin, citing a left thigh issue.

The Greek tennis star, who has been showcasing exceptional form lately, notably reaching the final at Indian Wells, now awaits the determination of her next opponent in the quarter-finals. Kalinskaya expressed regret over her inability to compete, stating, "I'm sorry, I was looking forward to playing today. Unfortunately, my health doesn't allow me to do so. Thanks for the support."

Sakkari's advancement comes with an added bonus as she secures her climb to No. 7 in the WTA world rankings by making it to the quarter-finals in Miami. The anticipation builds as fans eagerly await to see who will face off against the rising tennis sensation in the next round, with the matchup to be decided between Ribakina and Keys.
