Knife Attack in Illinois Leaves Four Dead, Seven Wounded

A horrific knife attack in Rockford, Illinois, has left four people dead and seven others injured. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

The violence unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, with reports of multiple stabbings across various locations in Rockford and Winnebago County. A 22-year-old man has been arrested as the suspected perpetrator.

The victims include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. Seven others were injured in the attack, with one person in critical condition.

According to Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana, investigations revealed that the suspect was implicated in a home invasion in the area. During the invasion, a female victim sustained severe stab wounds and is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries. Additionally, Sheriff Caruana disclosed that a courageous bystander who intervened in the attack is also receiving medical attention.

Rockford Police Chief Carla Red expressed her deep sorrow at the tragedy. "Words can't even begin to express my thoughts right now," she stated to reporters.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the motive behind the attack.
