Pink Martini is coming to Athens for a concert!

One of the world's most loved bands, Pink Martini, will be among the famous foreign names visiting Greece this summer for a concert.

The Greek public will be able to enjoy Pink Martini on July 15 at the newly renovated Municipal Theatre of Lycabettus in Athens as part of Rockwave Nights.

Each of their performances is a thrilling amalgamation of explosive stage presence, classic Hollywood storytelling and rousing rhythms from all corners of the globe, all wrapped in an esthete musical atmosphere uniquely their own.

It is hard to classify them in a specific musical genre - are they jazz, lounge, fusion, or all of them? Ultimately, they have the secret recipe for the perfect combination of different genres, resulting in their unique musical idiom.

The history of the band's creation is quite unorthodox. In 1994, Thomas Lauderdale was working as a political operative in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, with aspirations of running for office himself. Like other wannabe politicians in training, he went to every political fundraiser under the sun… but was disappointed with the music he heard at those events.

Drawing inspiration from music from around the world – but also from the genres of classical, jazz, and old-fashioned pop – and hoping to appeal to conservatives and liberals, he founded Pink Martini. It was originally intended to provide beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraising for causes such as human rights, affordable housing, environmental action, library funding, education and parks.
