TUI predicts a 10% increase in Greek tourism this year

As TUI's CEO mentioned, bookings and arrivals in Greece are moving positively this year. In the first quarter of 2024, there was a 30% increase.

TUI's managing director, Sebastian Ebel, predicts a 10% increase in Greece this year and says that Greek tourism is improving.

This year, we are seeing positive signs in terms of bookings and arrivals in Greece. Based on the data of the well-known travel magazine organisation, there was a 30% increase in 2024, already in the first quarter (a very low season).

The CEO of TUI stated that he has been on vacation in Rhodes and that Greece is doing very well in managing the pandemic, which is even getting better. Ebel added that tourism is a source of growth and wealth that brings people together.

The "The Rhodes Co-Lab" program works with TUI's participation in this context. This program aspires to unite all of Rhodes's productive and social forces in planning and integrating the best sustainability practices.

The key objectives of the program include phasing out the use of fossil fuels, with climate change adaptation actions and an energy transition to develop climate neutrality by 2030, the continuous reduction of the plastic footprint to achieve a three-year goal of zero plastics by 2027, the reduction of non-reflective water to 20% by 2025, and the implementation of an integrated waste management system by 2030.

In the context of promoting social development and cultural heritage, the program focuses on developing Rhodes into the first fully accessible island by 2025, on tourism workers participating in at least one training program by 2027, and on ensuring good working conditions in the sector until 2025 and so on.
