Greek NFL Star George Karlaftis to Lead New York Independence Day Parade

The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York has just announced that George Karlaftis, Greek American professional football defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League, is the Grand Marshal for the Greek Independence Day Parade 2024.

George Karlaftis was born in Athens, Greece, where he played water polo as a goalkeeper in the youth ranks of Panathinaikos, of which he is still an avid supporter.

George was raised speaking English in the family home, but was otherwise brought up with traditional Greek culture.

The New York 2024 Independence Day Parade will take place on Sunday, April 14th.
