Canadian songwriter Loreena McKennitt, famous for her ethereal voice and dreamy melodies, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her most iconic album, 'The Mask and Mirror', with a European tour.

The tour begins on June 26 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens. She will also perform a second concert on June 27 at the Theatre of the Earth (Theatro Gis) in Thessaloniki.

'The Mask and Mirror' was released in 1994. It was her fifth album, considered the best of her career, and sold more than two million copies worldwide.

Billboard described her eclectic Celtic blend of pop, folk, and world music as "timeless and transcendent" and praised her for its "cross-cultural identity" as it combines Celtic, Spanish, and Moroccan influences.

It’s been called "one of the most celebrated albums by the artist" and "a turning point in Loreena's music" and has sold more than two million copies worldwide.

"This album was an historical and musical pilgrimage for me and I'm thrilled to be bringing it back to the European summer circuit and to be able to perform in so many outdoor venues," Loreena says. "This is a milestone anniversary in my career and I look forward to celebrating it with so many people I haven’t seen in far too long."

Loreena says she followed "paths of inspiration" and that the album "examines the questions that echo down the centuries – Who was God? What is religion, what spirituality? What was revealed and what was concealed and what was the mask and what the mirror?"

In her two concerts, the Greek audience will not only hear "The Mask and Mirror", which, of course, will form the backbone of the program, but the program will also include several other favourite songs of McKennitt, including Tango to Evora, the "Tango of Nefelis" arranged in Greek by Haris Alexiou in 1996.
