This two-year plan focuses on an area of nearly 10,000 hectares (100,000 stremmata) that has remained submerged since Storm Daniel wreaked havoc on the region last September. Until the floodwaters recede, farmers cannot access their fields, causing significant hardship.
In a separate announcement, Minister Avgenakis also revealed that €700 million in EU funding will be distributed to Greek beneficiaries before the upcoming Easter holiday. This disbursement will be handled by Opekepe, the agency responsible for managing EU funds under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development. Notably, this sum includes funds allocated in 2023 but left undistributed by the previous Opekepe administration.
