Greek Energy Giant Mytilineos Considers London Stock Exchange Listing

In a move that could bolster the London Stock Exchange (LSE), Greek energy and metals conglomerate Mytilineos is exploring a potential listing on the exchange. This comes amid recent concerns about the LSE's ability to attract high-growth international companies.

Mytilineos, currently listed on the Athens Stock Exchange with a market capitalization exceeding €5 billion (£4.3 billion), is reportedly working with Citigroup and Morgan Stanley on the LSE flotation. The company is considering relocating its primary listing to London, which could make it eligible for inclusion in the FTSE indices.

Founded in 1990, Mytilineos is a global player with a presence in over 40 countries, including Australia. The company employs over 6,500 people worldwide and boasts revenues exceeding €5 billion last year.

Mytilineos's potential move to the LSE comes at a time when the exchange is facing challenges. High-profile companies like Flutter Entertainment have recently moved their primary listings to the US, and smaller healthcare companies have delisted from London, citing a lack of liquidity. A successful listing by Mytilineos could be a welcome boost for the LSE and counter this recent trend.
