The Corinth Canal is one of Greece's most recognisable and symbolic icons. It was completed in the late 19th century and today is an important attraction for thousands of tourists.
Restoration work restarted in October 2023 to ensure the safety of ships passing through the Isthmus and visitors on the viewing bridges. Due to the busy summer season, the canal will remain open for four months.
Major projects will also be undertaken in the coming years to upgrade the area's infrastructure due to the large number of tourists.
