Mykonos: Easter with crowds and beach clubs opening

The Cycladic island was full of Greeks for the holidays, while some of the famous beach clubs opened.

Mykonos welcomed this year’s Easter with a crowd of mainly Greeks, while the first famous beach clubs of the island opened.

The prevailing question was whether Principote would open in Panormos, which had announced it would open on Holy Saturday. This was done after the business fully complied with everything that needed to be done and thus welcomed the first customers.

All those who wanted sunbeds were informed they would not be charged for the set due to the holiday.

The bad weather and the rain in the afternoon did not spoil the mood, and the fun started early on Easter Sunday.

The Nammos Hotel—the former Kensho—officially opened in Psarou. On Easter Sunday, there were the usual lambs, and DJ Antonis Dimitriadis took over the entertainment.

On the same day, Alemagou in Ftelia, which opened on Holy Thursday, also had a party with lambs and, contrary to its usual style, a lot of Greek music.

The restaurants and bars in Chora were full, and there were also many people in Matogiannia.

Sunday was dominated by house parties, whilst the party at Scorpios started with a bang.

The influx of people to the island was because hotel prices were quite low compared to other periods. A well-known 4-star hotel in Chora charged 67 euros for a double room.

Some 5-star hotels had an offer for four days at 600 euros with Easter lunch included in the price, a sign that something has changed after last year’s tourist decline in the island.
