Greek Island Skiathos Operations Spark Outrage and Travel Chaos

Jet2 has announced the cancellation of all flights to the Greek island of Skiathos today due to a 'do not travel' alert, causing disruptions to many holiday plans. The airline is planning to resume normal operations starting tomorrow following today's flight disruptions. Flights from various UK airports including Bristol, Birmingham Airport, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Newcastle, and Manchester have been cancelled for the day and will be rescheduled.

Jet2 has assured passengers that this temporary suspension only applies to today's flights (Friday, May 10) and is hopeful for a return to regular services by tomorrow. Passengers who were scheduled to travel to Skiathos today are advised not to go to the airport and to return home if they are already there, aiming to arrive at the airport three hours before their new departure time tomorrow. For those unable to go home, assistance will be provided by Jet2's Red team at the airport.

The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected schedule changes and highlighted their efforts to resume operations promptly. Severe weather warnings for "heavy thunderstorms" in the Sporades islands were issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, prompting Jet2 to inform passengers early in the morning about the potential weather disruptions in Skiathos.
