The President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen took a clear position condemning the provocative statement of the president of the Parliament of North Macedonia, during her swearing-in.

The Greek government has also condemned the recent actions of the president of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, for violating the Prespa Agreement. The Prespa Agreement was signed in 2018 between Greece and North Macedonia, resolving a long-standing dispute over the name "Macedonia".

Greek government spokesperson Giannis Oikonomou stated that Pendarovski's decision to authorize the use of the term "Macedonian language" in official state documents is a clear violation of the Prespa Agreement. Oikonomou said this move undermines the agreement and called on Pendarovski to respect the terms of the deal.

The Greek government has expressed its disappointment and concern over Pendarovski's actions, which they view as a threat to the stability and progress achieved through the Prespa Agreement. They have called on the European Union to address this issue and ensure that North Macedonia upholds its commitments under the agreement.
