Odori: The Athens pizzeria voted in the Top 25 in Europe!

Odori earned a place in Europe's Top 50 for the second year in a row.

In a brilliant ceremony in Madrid, the 50 Top Pizza Europa 2024 results were announced, with Athens pizzeria Odori once again earning a spot.

Odori won 25th place among the best in Europe this year. In addition to the chefs, Manolis Lykiardopoulos and Thanasis Tsanakas, two of Odori's owners were present to receive the award, as was pizzaiolo (pizza maker) Nikos Sotiropoulos.

It is not the first time the pizzeria has received this distinction, having ranked 28th in 2023.

Nikos Sotiropoulos follows the Neapolitan school of pizza making. This means he lets the dough mature for about a day before adding the ingredients and baking it in a wood-fired oven.

He said, "The Neapolitan style, which we cook on high heat, needs between 60 and 90 seconds [in the oven]. In Rome, where they make the pinsa, which is more crispy, they have a lower heat and take a little more time [to cook]."

"But, under no circumstances does pizza need many minutes of contact with the fire," Sotiropoulos stressed.

"Odori is one of the best places to spend an evening in Athens: this vermouth bar in Plaka, right in the heart of the capital's nightlife, offers the intriguing pairing of pizza with cocktails or wine in a modern setting, meticulously detailed with plenty of outdoor seating," 50 Top Pizza wrote about Odori.

"The contemporary-style pizza with its puffy, light crust is truly excellent. The ingredients are high-quality, and the menu changes seasonally, with a special focus on raw materials. The Bloody Margherita is definitely the highlight of this venue, a classic executed to perfection, flavourful and just the right amount of softness.

"Open year-round, the service is quick and polite. Prices are average for Europe. In Greece, this is considered a guarantee."
