Greek Police Arrest Notorious Turkish Criminal

Greek police have arrested a 29-year-old Turkish man wanted on an international warrant for his involvement in manslaughter, homicide, migrant smuggling, arms trafficking, and drug trafficking.

The man, who is the leader of a criminal organization based in Adana, Turkey, was arrested in downtown Athens on Friday, May 10. The arrest was the result of cooperation between Greek and Turkish intelligence services, with the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) providing a tip-off to their Greek counterparts.

The man had been living in Athens after fleeing Turkey, where he is facing 14 pending arrest warrants. He was arrested in the Ampelokipoi district of the city and is currently being held in Korydallos prison.

The arrest was made possible by an Interpol Red Alert Warrant issued by Turkey. The man is expected to be extradited to Turkey in the next few days.
