Israel's Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, announced on Thursday that Israel will terminate its free trade agreement with Turkey and impose a 100% tariff on imports from Turkey in response to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's decision to halt exports to Israel. The proposal will be presented to the cabinet for review.
Earlier, Turkey declared a halt in exports to Israel amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, citing deteriorating conditions in Palestinian territories. However, the Turkish Trade Ministry has allowed companies three months to complete existing orders through third-party countries.
