Poor Things: The costumes of the film are coming to the Benaki Museum!

The exhibition will be opened in the presence of Oscar-winning costume designer Holly Waddington.

The Benaki Museum of Greek Culture will host the costumes from the film Poor Things in an exhibition that will be inaugurated on June 12.

Twelve handmade costumes by Holly Waddington, worn by Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef and the rest of the film's protagonists, will be exhibited in Athens until the end of September.

Waddington, who won this year's Best Costume Oscar, will attend the opening.

The costume designer had previously stated in an interview at the same exhibition, but at the Barbican Centre in London, that corsets were not included in the film's costumes to show that Bella was "free."

"We made a bold decision, which came from Yorgos [Lanthimos], to eliminate the corset. I come from a background of period dramas and costumes, so taking the corset away was a massive decision for me. It wouldn’t work for us conceptually because of its association with control. Bella is unbridled and uncontainable. She’s free. She can’t be moulded and hasn’t been shaped by societal norms; having her in a corset would have felt wrong. This is also what gives the costumes a modern feel," she said.
