Greece Launches 'Hippocrates' Program to Enhance Migrant Healthcare

The Ministry of Migration and Asylum has partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to implement the "Hippocrates" programme, aimed at improving healthcare services for migrants. The agreement, signed yesterday by Minister Dimitris Kairidis and IOM Greece head Gianluca Rocco, seeks to provide comprehensive health services and psychosocial support to migrants.

Funded by the European Union's Migration and Home Affairs Funds, the "Hippocrates" programme is designed to ensure independent access to medical and psychosocial services for residents and asylum seekers within the structures managed by the Reception and Identification Service of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. This initiative is expected to reduce the strain on local communities and public hospitals by offering dedicated health coverage for asylum seekers.

Minister Kairidis emphasised the programme's goal of facilitating better healthcare access for migrants, thereby improving their overall well-being and integration into society.
