Elderly Cruise Ship Passenger Found Dead in Cabin in Mykonos


According to a statement issued by the Greek Coast Guard, a cruise ship passenger was found dead in her cabin on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred while the ship was docked at the Port of Mykonos, and the local port authority was immediately informed.

The 81-year-old foreign passenger was pronounced dead by the ship's doctor. The Coast Guard report states that the passenger's body will be transported to the cruise ship's final destination in Italy. The Mykonos Port Authority is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.

The Coast Guard's announcement said, "Yesterday afternoon, the Port Authority of Mykonos was informed by the maritime agent of a Maltese-flagged cruise ship (K/Z) that an 81-year-old foreign passenger lost consciousness while in her cabin. She was pronounced dead by the ship's doctor. The body of the 81-year-old woman is to be landed at the final destination of K/Z, in Italy. A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Port Authority of Mykonos."
