Greek Police apprehended a man in Piraeus who was sought by Swedish authorities for issuing threats against politicians via social media.

The 61-year-old individual was taken into custody at his residence in Keratsini and subsequently presented before a prosecutor on charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms.

According to a police announcement, the search of his premises yielded four rifles, two handguns, ammunition rounds, three binoculars, a silencer, and nine portable wireless transceivers. Additionally, Swedish authorities had invalidated the suspect’s firearm license due to suspicions of his involvement in criminal activities.

The statement further revealed that the suspect had resided in Greece for at least a year without following the necessary procedures to declare possession of firearms to Greek authorities.

"Swedish authorities revoked his firearms license due to suspicion of criminal activity, as he had shared videos on a prominent social media platform containing threatening content directed at the nation’s political figures," the police elaborated.
