Athens International Airport witnessed a significant surge in passenger traffic, with an 18.5% increase recorded in May 2024 compared to the same period last year.
In May 2024, the airport served a total of 3.01 million passengers, reflecting an 18.5% rise from May 2023. This growth was evident in both domestic and international passenger traffic, which saw increases of 10.6% and 22.3%, respectively.
For the first five months of the year, the airport's total passenger traffic reached 10.71 million, marking a notable 17% increase. Similar trends were observed in domestic and international passenger numbers, which rose by 9.0% and 20.8%, respectively.
Flight operations at Athens International Airport also experienced growth, with a total of 92,310 flights recorded during the first five months of 2024. This represented a 14.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Both domestic and international flights contributed to this rise, with increases of 6.8% and 19.7%, respectively, compared to 2023.
