In the previous European elections in 2019, registered Turkish Cypriot voters numbered 82,925, of which 5,804 voted. Turkish Cypriot voters increased by 20,344 from 2019 to 2024.

According to the data of the Cypriot Ministry of the Interior, 837 Turkish Cypriots are on the permanent electoral roll, holders of an identity card of the Republic of Cyprus with an address in the free areas.

There are three Turkish Cypriot candidates: Niyazi Kızılyürek, the current MEP of AKEL; Oz Karahan, a candidate with the Environmentalists; and Hulusi Kilim, a candidate with Volt.

Turkish Cypriot parties, organisations, and trade unions have made announcements, statements, and appeals either to encourage Turkish Cypriots to participate in Sunday's European elections or to prevent them.

The Turkish Cypriot parties New Cyprus, United Cyprus and the Left Party, as well as the trade unions of teachers (KTÖS) and "public" employees (KTAMS), with announcements and statements, call on Turkish Cypriots to vote.

The Turkish Cypriot Democratic Party appealed to the Turkish Cypriots not to vote in the European elections, stating that the Turkish Cypriots as a "people" have no place in these elections.

"The elections for the European Parliament are not elections of the Turkish Cypriots as a separate people," according to the deputy president of the party, Salih Çeliker.
