The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued a very high (category 4) fire risk alert for three regions in Greece on Tuesday.

According to the Fire Risk Forecast Map released by the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry, the regions of Attica, Central Greece (including Viotia, Fthiotida, and Fokida), and the Peloponnese (specifically Corinth) are at significant risk.

In light of this warning, the ministry has urged the public to exercise extreme caution and refrain from engaging in any outdoor activities that could potentially ignite a fire. This includes activities such as burning vegetation, operating machinery that produces sparks, lighting barbecues, or discarding lit cigarettes. Citizens are reminded to promptly report any signs of fire by calling the emergency number 199 to alert the fire brigade.

The alert serves as a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of wildfires and ensure the safety of residents and property in the affected regions.
