From his prison cell, Fredi Beleri celebrated his victory in the European Parliament election, securing a seat as a member of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' New Democracy party. Beleri, who received the third highest vote count for his party, described his win as a triumph of "light over darkness," attributing his success to the "honor, patriotism and pride of the Greeks."

Beleri's campaign was marred by his imprisonment, which he characterized as a politically motivated attack on democracy. He expressed gratitude towards Greek voters, his family, and Prime Minister Mitsotakis for their unwavering support during this challenging period. He vowed to be a strong voice for the Greek people, particularly the Northern Hellenic community, in the European Parliament.

"The war was won under difficult conditions, unimaginable for a country that wants to become part of the European family," Beleri stated. He pledged to work tirelessly for New Democracy and, most importantly, for Greece as he assumes his new role as Member of European Parliament.

With Beleri's victory, New Democracy is projected to secure seven seats in the European Parliament.
