Mylos: One of the best seafood restaurants in Greece is located in Leros

mylos restaurant leros

One of the best seafood restaurants in Greece is located in Leros, which is just starting to become a tourist destination.

The experience of visiting Mylos is definitely something you will never forget. The images from the unforgettable evenings in the picturesque port of Leros, an island that seems to be overcoming old prejudices and entering the tourist scene dynamically, are all about the holistic experience that this unique fish restaurant offers you: from the range of fusion techniques revealed by the Mediterranean menu featuring fish to the highly curated music and the impressive wine list.

Family affair

Mylos is not only the story of the family business that Takis Koutsounaris started in the new millennium but also the place where his two sons, Georgios and Marios, believed they could transform into a point of reference for all lovers of fish and high aesthetics in food.

They joined their creative forces, looking daily for new ideas for serving, menu, and how to make a visit to Mylos memorable.

Marios is in the background and holds the reins of the kitchen as head chef, while Georgios has the general supervision and leads the service, always being ready to answer all questions regarding the raw materials, the content of the dishes, the dynamic combination of flavours – even to ask your preferences and shape a tailor-made culinary experience according to your tastes.

In this well-coordinated family mission, mother Ioanna, who is responsible for the dessert, has a significant role as the pinnacle of the culinary experience.

Holistic philosophy

We focus on the logic of head-to-tail, where all parts of the fish are utilised dynamically, and the zero-waste philosophy.

With an imaginative movement, like the magical trident of Poseidon, which transforms ingredients into culinary worlds, you can see an imaginative tuna belly with mango tartare, asparagus with eel, unique seafood charcuterie, and a sea urchin salad.

The important thing is that the fish are used to the maximum, leaving no part unused, while they are prepared in different ways: you can find the well-known raw dishes, such as carpaccio and tartar, on the grill, but also in their fricassee and ravioli versions.

Star wine list

No dish is left without the ideal wine accompaniment since the wine list exceeds 200 labels. Georgios loves wine and can answer all your questions. He also recommends varieties and labels from different parts of the world, as he also makes his own imports.

In fact, this year, the Mylos family saw its list dominate the famous Star Wine List, which includes bottles from across Greece.
