Under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP), the project, initiated in 2021, involves a consortium led by Greece‘s ETME in collaboration with major EU defence manufacturers Naval Group and Navantia.
Originally conceptualised by ETME, the USSPS project aims to integrate advanced C5ISTAR capabilities on semi-fixed unmanned platforms to establish comprehensive maritime surveillance networks. This innovative system will enhance the coordination and integration of sensor networks, facilitating real-time data reception, image processing, and operational planning.
With ETME at the helm of the consortium and Naval Group serving as the technical coordinator, the project is progressing towards prototype design, leveraging the expertise of European industrial leaders and research institutions. The initiative is set to boost opportunities within the Greek and Cypriot supply chains, fostering long-term R&D cooperation between Greece and France.
The 42-week program is expected to not only advance technological capabilities but also create substantial market prospects in the defence sector.
