Sabalenka Withdraws from Paris Olympics to Focus on Health and Hard Court Season

Arina Sabalenka, currently ranked world No. 3, announced today that she will not compete in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The decision comes as the two-time Grand Slam champion aims to prioritise her health and prepare for the hard court season.

The 26-year-old Belarusian, who won the Australian Open in January, was recently eliminated by 17-year-old Russian Mira Andreeva in the quarter-finals of the French Open.

"Given all the matches I've played in the last few months, I need to take care of my health," Sabalenka stated at the Berlin Ladies Open. "I decided to rest and ensure I am physically and health-wise ready for the hard courts."

Sabalenka is set to face Russia's Daria Kasatkina in the round of 16 in Berlin.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
