Pakistani murderer was caught in Syros

A foreigner internationally prosecuted with an INTERPOL Red Notice was arrested in Syros.

A 46-year-old Pakistani was arrested on Tuesday at noon in Syros by local police following the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice, Cyclades24 reported.

The prosecuting authorities of Pakistan wanted the foreigner for homicide, for which he was found guilty in his country. He had managed to leave Pakistan and live permanently in Syros, where he worked in a local business.

He applied for a permanent residence permit while staying on the Cycladic island.

Until his request was examined and approved, the 46-year-old left Syros and settled permanently in another country. At some point, he was notified that he had to return to Syros, where he had submitted his application, as the residence permit procedures had progressed.

However, from the background check, it emerged that there were charges against him for homicide. When he returned to Syros, he was immediately arrested and detained by the police.

The alledged murderer was taken to the Aegean Appeals Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday to testify.
